Jefferson's "family" included not only his daughters from his marriage to Martha Jefferson, but also the slaves who then lived on his plantation whose lives Jefferson documented in his Farm Book.   I quite agree with the President. I have never left that early stage of life where all children inquire, “Is it real, Mommy?” I read some fiction and enjoy it, but the majority of my beloved books are historical or biographical. Thanks for bringing us Mr. Jefferson’s reasoning.

The final difference I have with THOMAS JEFFERSON: THE ART OF POWER is the thesis that Mr. Meacham proposes at the beginning of the book and attempts to support throughout: that Jefferson's vision for American, which contrasted with Washington's and Hamilton's allowed him and his proteges to control the Presidency for 40 years with only one. Jon Meacham is the author, most recently, of Thomas Jefferson: The Art of Power, a #1 New York Times bestseller that has been named one of the best books of the year by The New York Times Book Review, The Washington Post, Entertainment Weekly, The Seattle Times, and the St. Louis m received the Pulitzer Prize for American Lion, his 4/5(K).

On stage, Mr. Jefferson!. [Jean Lee Latham; Edward Shenton] -- A fictionalized account of the life of Joseph Jefferson, the American actor. Your Web browser is not enabled for JavaScript. Jefferson, apparently, did all he did to bring to reality Marx's bizarre theory of economic envy. Anyway, I'm a fan of Jefferson, and Nock is a fan of Jefferson, but obviously for entirely different reasons.

The book is a well-written and surprisingly short look at Jefferson's service to America/5(6). I began reading this book simply because, somehow, while I'd already read biographies of most of the Presidents - and many of some of them - I had somehow overlooked Mr. Jefferson.

This book is not a hagiography - it acknowledges and discusses Jefferson's flaws - but it does something very valuable in how it gets across Jefferson's point of view.
